The Fox Who Had Lost His Tail
꼬리 잘린 여우
A FOX caught in a trap escaped, but in so doing lost his tail.
Thereafter, feeling his life a burden from the shame
and ridicule to which he was exposed,
he schemed to convince all the other Foxes
that being tailless was much more attractive,
thus making up for his own deprivation.
He assembled a good many Foxes
and publicly advised them to cut off their tails,
saying that they would not only look much better without them,
but that they would get rid of the weight of the brush,
which was a very great inconvenience.
one of them interrupting him said,
"If you had not yourself lost your tail, my friend,
you would not thus counsel us."

"꼬리가 없다면 당신들은 훨씬 멋있어 보일 뿐만 아니라,
굉장한 불편을 주던 솔의 무게를 줄이게 될 것입니다."
그들 중의 하나가 그의 말을 이어받으며 말했다,
"이 보게 친구, 만일 당신이 꼬리를 잃지 않았다면,
당신은 우리에게 이렇게 조언을 하지 않을 것이오."
