Molly ( 몰리)라는 이름의 아내/애인에게 배신당한 강도 이야기이지요.
1968년에 아일랜드 포크 그룹 The Dubliners(더블리너스)가
아일랜드 전통 민요인 Whiskey in the Jar를 처음 발표하였는데
그들의 signature song이 될 정도로 큰 인기를 얻었다고 합니다
이런 포크 음악을 Scott Gorham (기타)
Eric Bell(기타), Brown Downey (드럼),
Phil Lynott (보컬/베이스)로 이루어진 Thin Lizzy가
락으로 바꿔 놓았네요
후배 락 밴드들이 Thin Lizzy의 몇몇 곡들을 리메이크 하였는데
Whiskey in the Jar는 Metallica 가 1998년에 발표하였지요
