돈 맥클린의 1972년 노래이다.
American Pie 앨범에 수록된 이 노래는
19세기 천재화가 Vincent Van Gogh의 생을 노래한 곡으로
감미로운 선율에 회화성이 어우러져 팝에 무관심한 사람들에게까지
널리 알려졌던 70년대 팝의 클래식 이라 할 수 있다.
Carmen Cuesta 는 스페인 마드리드 태생으로,
가수가 될 꿈을 키우며 마드리드에서 활동하던 그녀에게
결정적인 전환의 된 계기가 된 것은
79년 스탄 게츠 밴드 일원으로 스페인에 공연을 왔던
Chuck Loeb 을 만나게 되면서이다.
첫 만남에 서로 동화된 둘은 급기야 Carmen Cuesta 가
스페인 생활을 접고 뉴욕으로 활동 무대를 옮겼으며,
재즈계에서도 소문난 잉꼬부부가 탄생하게되었다.
