Broken Vow / At Vance Watching the tears melt With the rain on my skin What was my mistake What was my sin Will you be there Just to show me the way Who do you dare the Long and winding road There is hardly anything You could compared Don't you see What you've down to me You left this broken vow But why did you break my heart We could be closer now But why did you break my heart Unspoken words Violence and hate We've been thru it all But now that's it's too late So I'm sending out this prayer Towards the heaven that we owned So much higher than the mountains And the fields of love we roamed Running towards eternity In search for peace of mind Don't you see What you've down to me You left this broken vow But why did you break my heart We could be closer now But why did you break my heart ------------------------------------- 독일 출신의 멜로딕 메탈 그룹 앳 밴스는 벨벳 바이퍼 출신의 기타리스트 올라프 렌크(Olaf Lenk)와 보컬리스트 올리버 하트만(Oliver Hartmann)에 의해 1998년 결성된 그룹으로 1999년 데뷔작 No Escape 를 내놓은 뒤 1년마다 음반을 내놓은 그들은 멜로디 메탈의 보금자리인 일본에서 꾸준한 인기를 모으고 있지요 올라프 렌크와 함께 그룹을 이끌었던 한 축인 올리버 하트만이 솔로 프로젝트를 위해 떠난 후, 잉베이 맘스틴 밴드 출신의 신예 보컬리스트 매츠 레벤(Mats Leven)을 영입하였고, 이미 바로크 메탈 랜드에서 검증을 받은 매츠 레벤의 보컬은 앳 밴스의 사운드에 잘 동화되고 있습니다 바로크 메탈과 멜로딕 메탈의 중간 지점인 The evil in you, 선배 그룹 헬로윈의 멜로딕 스피드 메탈의 영향권 내에 들어있는 Stronger than you think, one million miles, 미드 템포의 'Right or wrong'에서 점차 캐리어가 쌓여 가는 앳 밴스의 음악을 접할 수 있지요 이 곡 Broken Vow는 헤비하지도.스피디한 리프도 없지요 더구나 드럼은 전형적인 8비트 리듬을 때리고.... 그러나, 맷 밴스의 억눌린듯한 목소리가 터져나오며 한 순간 곡의 분위기를 바꾸놓습니다. 곡 전체로 본다면.멜로디 라인은 보컬이 끌고 있으며 베이스가 전체적인 리듬을 끌고 기타와 드럼은 배경음을 메꿔주는 아주 특이한 분위기의 노래입니다
