The Swallow,and the Court of Justice 제비와 법정 A SWALLOW, returning from abroad and especially fond of dwelling with men, built herself a nest in the wall of a Court of Justice and there hatched seven young birds. A Serpent gliding past the nest from its hole in the wall ate up the young unfledged nestlings. The Swallow, finding her nest empty, lamented greatly and exclaimed: "Woe to me a stranger! that in this place where all others' rights are protected, I alone should suffer wrong." 　 외국에서 돌아오는 어떤 제비가, 특별히 사람들과 함께 사는 것을 좋아하여, 법원의 담벼락에 둥지를 틀었다, 그리고 거기서 새끼 일곱을 낳았다. 그런데 뱀이 벽에 난 구멍으로 둥지에 미끄러져 들어가 아직 날지도 못하는 새끼들을 삼켜버렸다. 제비는 자신의 둥지가 비어있는 것을 알고는, 엄청나게 슬퍼하면서 소리쳤다: "아, 슬프도다, 내가 이방인이라고! 다른 모든 자들의 권리가 보호 받는 이곳에서, 오직 나만이 악한 일을 겪어야 하는구나."
