If you're a sailboat I would sail you to the shore ------------------------------------------------ Katie Melua 는 구 소련연방 그루지아 공화국의 Kutaisi에서 1984년 9월 16일 , Ketevan Katie Melua 라는 본명으로 태어나 8살 때 북아일랜드로 이주한 후,14살 때 영국에 정착하여 2003년에 영국에서 데뷔한 어쿠스틱,블루스,팝 재즈 스타일의 여자가수입니다 보컬 실력은 물론이고 기타,피아노,바이올린 등 다양한 악기를 능숙하게 다루고 곡을 만드는 능력도 탁월, 영국의 노라존스라는 애칭으로 불리는 싱어 송 라이터 이지요 그녀는 대학에서 영문학과 역사 등을 배우려고 하다가 가수가 되기 위해 영국 예술학교에 입학해서 본격적으로 작곡 공부를 시작했으며, 이곳에서 나중에 그녀의 매니저가 되는 프로듀서 Mike Batt를 만나게 됩니다. 영국 예술학교에서 공연을 하던 그녀를 Mike Batt가 픽업을 한 것인데. 그녀는 당시 33살의 나이로 사망한 에바 캐시디를 위해 그녀가 직접 만든 노래'Faraway Voice'를 불렀습니다. 그리고 2003년 6월 8일, 19살의 어린 나이에 데뷔 앨범을 발표, 영국에서 돌풍을 일르키며 UK 앨범 차트 1위에 오르고 앨범 발매 5개월 만에 1백 80만장의 판매고를 기록하며 주목을 받았습니다
